Example Calculation
Here's a worked example using three courses, so you can see exactly how the final number is produced.
| Course | Grade | Units | Quality Points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Calculus I | A (4.0) | 3 | 12.0 |
| English Composition | B+ (3.5) | 3 | 10.5 |
| Physics I | B (3.0) | 4 | 12.0 |
Calculation
(12.0 + 10.5 + 12.0) ÷ (3 + 3 + 4) = 34.5 ÷ 10
Result
3.45

Frequently Asked Questions
How is QPI calculated?
QPI = the sum of (grade point × units) for every course, divided by your total units. For example, an A (4.0) in a 3-unit course contributes 12 quality points; add up quality points and units across all your courses, then divide.
What's the difference between QPI and GPA?
They're computed the same way — both are weighted averages of your grades by course units. "QPI" (Quality Point Index) is simply the term many Philippine universities use in place of "GPA."
Can I add more than a few courses?
Yes — use "Add Course" as many times as you need. There's no limit, so you can calculate a single term or your entire academic record in one pass.
What if I'm not sure how many units a course is worth?
Check your official course syllabus, registration form, or student portal — unit values are set by your school and can vary even for courses with the same name.
Can I edit a course after calculating?
Yes. Update any grade or unit value and press "Calculate QPI" again — the tool recalculates instantly using your latest entries.
