How UPG Is Calculated
UPG generally starts from a student's General Weighted Average (GWA) across specific grade levels or terms set by the admitting university, sometimes combined with an entrance exam score into a composite admissions index. This calculator focuses on the GWA side: it takes the GWA you enter for each relevant grade level, applies an optional weight to each one, and computes a weighted average as a simplified estimate.
By default, each grade level you add uses a weight of 1 (equal weighting). If you have reason to believe your target university weights certain years more heavily, you can adjust the weight field for each row — otherwise, leave the defaults for a simple, equal-weighted average.
